Will a bad egr valve adversely affect performance?? I think mine has finnaly givin up but not really sure cause I can't really understand how it HELPS performance to begin with!!

An EGR valve that is stuck open will cause a vacuum leak and cause a bad idle. The EGR is not there for performance, it's there to keep NOX emissions down by cooling the combustion chamber temperatures down. It does this by directing spent ehxaust gases back into the cylinders, and because it is an inert gas it will not burn, it only takes up room in the combustion chamber so there is less of an explosion and less heat. The valve is not supose to open until at cruise, never at idle. now you need to figure out if and why it is open. Is it open because of a vacuum solenoid is stuck open at idle, or is there a piece of carbon stuck in the valve leaving it open?
OK well she don't have an idle issue.... idles just fine at around 700rpms, sometimes a lil lower but I don't think that's a prob.... so would it hurt anything if I just blocked it off then???

You don't have to remove the whole valve, just pull the cacuum line off of it and plug the line, done.
