i had a new light switch 5000 miles ago too, the digital clock that usually dims when you pull the switch out doesn't dim now, could it be the switch? i had it fitted at a jeep dealership too cause i couldn't get my hand in to get it out! wouldn't have expected it to go :/

I would recommend changing the spark plug wires, then the spark plugs if that doesn't work.
Try rotating the headlight switch all the way to the left. If the lights turn on then, but not in any other position, the headlight switch has indeed gone.

If your spark plugs are fairly new, check the gapping.

cheers for the ideas !

i changed the wires around 2000miles ago, the plugs where changed around the same time im perplexed! ( these were changed the last time it had a misfire ) maybe its the crankshaft sensor? or wouldnt it start at all?

it will turn the interior lights on, but no matter which way i turn it no dash lights come on :|

the misfire appears to have been a worn distibuter cap, so fingers crossewd its fixed. however... still gotta find whats turned all my instrument lights off, stuggling to find the fuze atm but they all seem ok anyway :S i really hope its not the light switch again :\

and the reason my instument lights were out was a fuse, however the fuses in LHD and |RHD are different ( took me a while to realise ) so i was looking for fuze number 19 when infact it was 25, and the fuze was not obviously blown, took a while to see the break, probably its age! so fingers crossed for now everythings fixed, cheers for the help everyone!

Wow, that was just 2000 miles of wear? What do the rest of the plugs look like? You might try running a cooler plug in that cylinder if the rest are OK,,,

yeah i didnt think they had been in there that long, turns out they have done around 10,000miles ( my bad ) and my car runs on Propane which is much harder on spark plugs.. although im pretty annoyed they only lasted that long, they were champions ( the recommend ones RC12yc's i think) sucked compare to my last Bosch ones i put one of the old ones as a back up back in as a temporary measure and she runs sweet as a nut and they lasted half as long again. i think im going to put the equivalent NGK ones in next time cause at least there cheaper
