Hey, i have my 92 xj i6 and some mornings, it will start, and some mornings it's completely dead. kind of weird but ya. got a new battery and starter, and im afraid i just threw wasted money at it, and im thinking that battery cables are probably next, i just wanted some input before i buy them if anyone thinks it might be somethin else.

to check if the battery cables are bad within the 1-6" of the cable should be rather flexible, If they are stiff at all then they are bad.

It ssounds like you have an open circuit somewhere allowing battery drain..

this may not be related to your situation at all, but I was having an issue with no power sometimes, but no dead battery. Everythting was fine from the diagnostic check but the battery connections were not looking so good. I replaced them and have not had any issues since. What I did notice is they had red and black paint that appeared to have melted down between the connections probably causing a bad connection. I would check those first, they are cheap and easy to change.

If you need cables, you can click the link in my sig as well. They're as close to a "custom fit" as you're likely to find outside of OEM - but larger wire than OEM. And sealed at the terminiii (OEM cables are not sealed, which is part of the problem Acid vapours get under the jacket and corrode the cable from the inside.)

When you say it's "completely dead," what exactly happens? Do you even get a "click" when you turn the key? Or is it nothing happens at all?
