bad ball joint

Default bad ball joint

how do i get the nut off a bad ball joint that just keeps spinning? any tricks?

use a pickle fork to keep pressure on it. Or just cut the part of the bolt with the nut on it off with an angle grinder.

since you usually get a new nut with the ball joint, i use a air hammer with a good cutting bit and split the nut in half (castle nuts are easy to break). i use that method on dakota ball joint recalls all the time, it works great

got some vise grips that were small enough to fit in the gap and got it. my tools are kind of limited. thanks for the help though guys
