Default backspacing question

im doing a 3 inch lift with 33x10.50x15 tires, and a lot of trimming. im going to go with 15x8 rims, and need to know what backspacing should they be?

i have 3.25 and i think they are too wide on the 3 inch. I would say 3.75 or so. 4.5 works on a 3 with 31s nice, but with the 33 12.5 I would think you would need to be wider than that

the distance between center hole on the rim, and an imaginary line representing the inside of the tire. To change it, you need a different rim, or wheel spacers. Wheel spacers are not recommended.

for backspacing, if you were to lay the rim face down on the ground and lay a flat edge across the rim lips, measure from the inside of the mounting surface to the flat edge. that's backspacing.
so with that, for offset, if it's an 8 inch rim, divide that in half, so 4 inches, then the measurement you took from the mounting surface, say it was 3.75. take the 4 subtract 3.75 leaves you .25. that would be your offset. since it's toward the back, it is negative offset.

So take this and tell me what I would need for rims. Dunlop 33x12.5x15 mud rovers. What is the smalled rim I can fit them on(I have the stock steal wheels now) and what backspacing would I need to clear them? I have the same tire in a 31 on my steals and love them, but want the 33" version.... I have been battling this for awhile now, and am really in the need to get the info now that I have a chance to upgrade....

if you're running stock control arms, you will need an 8 inch rim with at least 3.75 inch backspacing or less. even then, you will rub a tiny bit if they're m/t tires.

for 10.5, i would still get an 8 inch rim, maybe 4 inch bs. but for ease of upgrade later on, i'd get 3.75 inch bs. they should still be within 1 inch outside of your stock flares. unless you get some 33x9.5 pizza cutters. you could probably get away with these on stock rims.

will CA's really make a difference? I'm running aftermarket lowers and they seem to be a tad bit skinnier, but I don't see how they would matter. unless your talking about the tire grabbing the stock and twisting it :-) I can see that happening.

so an 8inch rim will hold 12.5's ? and man I didn't know rims where so ugly these days. what happened to the AR767's(I think that is what they were) ?

that kicks some serious ****!! 101 per rim!! but WOW they are killing me on tire prices there, 265 a piece!! I found the rovers 33" for 155 each... I only paid 105 each for the 31's I have now.... but yes THANKYOU!! for the rims, those are the ones I want and that price rocks for new!!

one Q though, the show the 7" rim fitting the 12.5 tires, I didn't think that was possible or safe... I heard no less then 10" from most people and here 8" will work so how could those fit on a 7" rim...
