Default back seat bottoms removable?

I noticed the passenger side bottom bracket on my back seat isn't just a plain bolt or hinge. It almost looks like its detachable.

Anyone have the same?

Yes, it most definitely comes out, and very easily out/in.

there is a little lever on one of the hinges. think it is on the drivers side.
push that lever and the seat will pull up off that hinge. then there is a pin hinge that just pulls out on the other side.
this is nice for when you need that extra little bit of headroom when sleeping in the back of the xj. just stuff chit on the floor to raise your pillow.

just a side note... the leather seat bottom has a different hinge on one side. backwards to the cloth seat. so swapping out that seat bottom takes changing the pin hinge.

That little lever your talking about is what made me ask.

Mine is on the passenger side.

Not sure what pins your talking about, but I probably will once I mess with this.

He meant one side has a hinge and the other has a pin. unlatch seat into fold down position then pull lever and seat up. Then pull seat to pull out the pin on the other side then remove the seat.

Not sure what models is switched but the hinge on my 98 is also located on the passenger side and I have leather seats.

It just seems as though he is suggesting some modification is needed.

Well, considering I'm not the first owner...and its an 87....chances of it being included with the sale are slim to none.

Sorry, I had no control over what happened to the original owners manual.

I got the owner's manual with my '87, but not the '92.

yea its removable which is cool.

if you push the lever down on the driver side IIRC, you will be able to pull the driver side up and then the pin on the passenger side can slide straight out of the bracket on that side and you can pull the whole thing out.

its a pretty odd feature considering that you have to unbolt the rear seat back to pull it out... lol

My 99 has it on the passenger side, I looked at the driver side and didn't see a way to take it off, but I looked for all of 5 seconds...
