back hatch???

Default back hatch???

on my 88 cherokee the back hatch is stuck and it wont open. well its more like the lock is stuck. does anybody know how to open it without destroying the hatch???

Try pushing on the hatch while pulling on the handle. Do this a couple of times with different amounts of force.

k look at it strait on without a cover over it. there should be a little tab inside on the right. push it or pry gently towards the bad and should pop it will get pics

My 99 has the same issue. Some days I can't get it open without really pulling hard on the latch, and others it opens like it should..

I read somewhere else that you could adjust the rods or something inside the door. This might solve the problem. I look and see if I can find out something.

The latch design on the hatches suck, I've had to tear down the inside of it, to get it open, than repair the rod..
