Bill, I gotta go with springs also and that is not nearly enough time to wear them out. Mine are OE on my '98 and my axle wrap from rev to drive is like 1/2inch

i appreciate everyones input on this. now one more question. can you overflex your springs even with the sway connected? i would of thought that a brake line would give if that happened.

Sway bars would normally prevent that. If your brake lines are properly set for a 3" lift, they shouldn't be torn or damaged during flex. If you got stock, unmodified lines and flex without sway bars....then you'll be spitting brake fluid and maybe even with the sway bar on. I have a 2.5" lift and the rear lines stretch beyond their potential at full droop. I won't off road till this is upgraded.

get a yj brake hose, cheap and effective.

and the rear swaybar doesn't restrict much. i think my stocker gained 1/16" of flex when i removed it


and axle wrap happens on spring over axle vehicles like its their job, if you do alot of wheeling where the tires constantly load and unload, each time that happens the springs take some of the power then when they can't twist anymore the axle housing backs to a normal state and gives the tires a quick spin until they load up again.

just re-read this

thats normal, when you put it in drive and still have your foot on the brake the power has to go somewhere, so it makes its way to the rearend and when everything from the torque converter back shows its maximum resistance, the torque converter acts like a clutch and takes the rest of the load until you stop braking.

when doing an sye you are supposed to shim your rear pinion yoke to point towards your transfercase output to avoid vibrations, most people shim so the rear yoke is pointing slightly below the transfercase output because when accellerating and keeping throttle the rear springs twist like what youre experiencing.

you have nothing to worry about.

i was told today what i have is pretty normal. the only thing the guy i talked to, who is jeeptech, said was it may be an issue with my backlash. makes since. when i put the TC and trans in neutral, there is some slop. not a lot but enough. i will change u-bolts and u-joints and then go from there. thanks again to everyone.
