Do you hear banjos?
Being that it is an 87, it came with 267 sized u joints, IIRC. I would change them both to a late model XJ, or a TJ. Those will be 297 joints, and a little stronger. You will have to remove the C.A.D. assy, the seals and bearings from the axle tube, on that side, and plug the vacuum lines to the C.A.D.. There is a kit that you can buy, that comes with all of the replacement parts, but I can't remember who makes it. I have heard they are supposed to be stronger in the long run, because of the casting around the C.A.D. assy, that is also the PS upper control arm mounting location. HTH!!

you still have to take just as many things off to change either axle, 4 little bolts more for axle shift fork on you current set up.
