Default axle shafts

Ok I've done a search and didn't find what I was looking for so ill ask
I have a 87' XJ with a D30 front what axle shaft could I use to replace the disco axle shaft ?
I'm looking for a simple drop in if there is one

Being that it is an 87, it came with 267 sized u joints, IIRC. I would change them both to a late model XJ, or a TJ. Those will be 297 joints, and a little stronger. You will have to remove the C.A.D. assy, the seals and bearings from the axle tube, on that side, and plug the vacuum lines to the C.A.D.. There is a kit that you can buy, that comes with all of the replacement parts, but I can't remember who makes it. I have heard they are supposed to be stronger in the long run, because of the casting around the C.A.D. assy, that is also the PS upper control arm mounting location. HTH!!

Ok yeah I'm keeping the housing just wanted to replace the shafts

Would it not be easier to swap out on a trail Incase I bust an axle on a trail ?

you still have to take just as many things off to change either axle, 4 little bolts more for axle shift fork on you current set up.
