Default axle not centered??

hey guys,my 96 has a 3" lift installed by the previous owner and the driverside front tire sticks out beyond the flare quite a bit more than the other side does,is the axle not centered? i remember reading about that on a zj forum once but how do you center it?could it be something else? i really want to fix it cause it drives me nuts! thanks

Default Axle not centered...

My 98 XJ came with 3 inch coils installed and i noticed the axle off center a little bit, but didnt bother me. A month ago i put 3 inch spacers on top of those coils and i noticed the axle was way off and chopping my new M/T's. The trac bar in the front of the axle can either be replaced with a longer adjustable one for about $100 or do what i did, drill a hole about an inch to the right and re-bolt the bar... thats the cheaper way.

i agree drill the hole to the right about 3/4 to an inch, much cheaper. Also stopped the trac bar from coming loose all the time which made a really annoying clunking sound every time i turned the wheel.

BTW where in Pa are you located? If you are anywhere near the Allentown area im looking for jeep guys to go wheeling with.

yeah i thought i would have to get an adj. trac bar but i'll try drilling...do you have to let the front hang free to get it bolted back up? my dad lives in allentown i'm about an hour north west and would LOVE to get out wheeling, however most of my free time is currently spent with my two kids but if your ever gonna go by all means give me a shout...where do you go wheeling? thanks guys that was really helpful...oh do you have to get it aligned afterwards?

Should just be able to adjust the drag link to center the steering wheel back up (you might need a friend for this to help you get it straight, and it might take a couple of times to get it perfect.)

well jks has an over the axle bracket you guys could use. it relocates the stock monting point from below the axle to above @4" up and 3" over. requires some welding but i did mine and it works well with the stock arm and it will only cost 57 shipped to the lower 48

Jake can you post some pics of yours installed. I have heard of those but don't remember ever seeing one installed.
