1991 Cherokee code 42
has anyone found a quick fix for this?
I have a new fuel pump and fuel at the injectors.
I have tested the relays, and they are good.
The books do not have much about this.Anyone who has seen this before, throw me a bone, please.
Thanks

In the PDC under the hood on the passengers side you have some relays....There is one called the ASD and it's listed on the lid of the PDC..Just head down to the local parts shop and buy a new one it's about $5 or so..Should fix your prob at least it did for me..

As stated in my first post, i checked the relays, infact teh horn relay is the same, just switch them and if the horn works, then the relay is good to go.
Not to mention a continuity test with a standard Fluke 77 multimeter.
Thanks for a replay.

Jay if the relay is good then disconnect the battery and touch the two cables together and then re-hook them back up. See if that clears the code.

BTW what should the fuel rail presure be when cranking?
I just replaced my fuel pump, and want to make sure the presure is inthe normal range.

I am expecting that to happen.
I have an Eaton M-90 SC from a Thunderbird coupe, i want to put on the jeep and blow 6psi. I will need a boost sensitive FPR for that, so if my FPR goes, well it just gives me an excuse to stuff that blower under the hood.
If the engine gives up after that, Iguess it will be time to stroke the 4.0l
Time and money, my only constraints, as the wife is totally on-board.
Of course with 6psi, the rear (open D35) will not last long, so I will be looking for a D44 to stuff under her.
Is your lift a long arm kit? I can not tell from the pic.

Nah just the RE 3.5 Super Ride short arms....One day Long Arm....just need to graduate and buy the wife a new house again...had to sell the other house when I went back to school and downsize to a smaller house payment..After that I'll likely buy a YJ or TJ then the XJ gets long arms, new rear end, lockers, axles shafts, SYE, more lift and bigger tires... Just need to graduate and get a job...
