Exclamation Axle gear ratio?

I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee w/ an AX-15. I tried looking @ the rear axle for a tag, but, cannot locate how the axle is geared.

I'm considering buying a Chrysler 8.25" axle to replace mine. His is also a 2 door 5 speed, but, a 1997.

I may also end up buying his front axle, but, I don't think there's any reason to, besides mine being rusty. It's still a Dana 30, right.

I am a complete amateur & have had my XJ for a short time. I appreciate any help.

3.07 with the manual tranny, if you have the tow package it might have 3.55s

When I say I'm replacing my rear axle, I currently have a Dana 35, not a Chrysler 8.25.

It doesn't matter, the ratio is the same for both axles.

You can physically check your ratio pretty easy... Lift your rear axle and use something to mark your DS (piece o' tape, zip tie, spray paint) and for every single turn of your tire your DS will move in reference to your Gear ratio...

For example: If you have a 355:1 gear ratio then the DS will move 3 and 1/2 times... If you have a 307:1 Gear ratio then the DS will move ~3 times... 4.10 gears/ 4 times etc... Hope that helps!

Well, I was pretty much just giving general help... If somebody has regeared or that little plate brakes off then it does you no good. And he already stated that the tag is not there.

I understand that... He said that he already looked for the tag. I was just saying it must be missing if he couldnt locate it.

Actually, I guess I do have the tag, but, it is so rusty, I can't read it, haha. I will look again later.
