AX15 tail housings?
Hi folk I'm new here and have a couple of questions. I'm needing to buy a new transmission and needin to know the different types of tail housings are in an AX15. I currently have an 89 xj. The reason I ask is the transmission shop I was goin to buy it from is in colorado and I'm in nebraska. Guy tells me he needs to know the tail housing of the transmission I have currently in there. Something about the bolt pattern being different in the years. I have a np231

The one I went with was the same as what a Wrangler would come with, the YJ and TJ years. I dont know what year mine is from since I bought it as a new rebuild from a trans shop. I dont have any pictures on my phone but both XJ and Wrangler ax15 look identical besides the bolt hole location on the tail shaft (where the t-case mounts). Look up the t-case clocking kit for an XJ. Where you drill the holes is the same spot as a factory Wrangler ax15 tail shaft.
