AX-15 towing capacity

I am interpreting Abovetimberline's post above as meaning that the owner's manual says that the manual w/ 4.0 I6 is capable of towing 2000lbs. and the auto w/ 4.0 is capable of towing 5000lbs.
Is this correct? Specifically I'm looking for info on the later (97 and up) XJ's.

Acording to my 96 owners manuel with class3 ,4.0 and auto factory GCWR is 8,781 lbs for 4x2 and 9,060 lbs for 4x4, It dont give 1 for 5 speed . So 5,000 lbs for c 3 , 2,000 lbs for c 1, and 3,500 lbs for c2.
