ax-15 leaking
well i went out to do a little bit of snow wheeling today and it didn't go to great. with about two feet of snow the trails were hard to get through and i was working the whole truck pretty hard to get it out of there. in the snow i noticed a redish fluid leaking out. enough to leave a good trail of transmission fluid in the snow...well the leak slowed down a lot by the time i got home. i think it came out more when i would rev the engine up high....my question how bad is it that the tranny is leaking? is it the tranny leaking for sure or could it be the transfer case? (the leak seems to be coming from above the crossmember) what could be the possible problems be that i'm facing? and how do i go about replacing the lost fluid for now?
any tips or suggestions on this are appreciated!

its been 3 mins since you made the thread...bumping wont help you...........
Crawl under there and look...no one is gonna be able to tell you where it is leaking from. could be the T/C or the trans.

thanks for the help full advice...
hey i'm kinda worried about this and a little bump here and there can't hurt anything man. its dark right now and the ground is very snowy. when i look under there all i see is a the fluid dripping from the cross member (when it was dripping still).. so unless you can answer any of the legitimate questions i have or even help out a little tiny bit, i really don't need your $.02 right now. thanks

vehicle speed sensor? i think? ...i guess i'll refer to my manual tomorrow and take a look under there and try to find it. kind of a shame that i don't know this but how do i get fluid back into my tranny? with automatic jeeps i've had i know there is the fill right in the engine bay. i can't recall seeing one there for my 5spd jeep. or is it a plug like on the diffs for filling them up

Well, considering the AX 15 uses gear oil, it should not be red. The transfer case takes automatic trans fluid though, which is red. Without looking under your Jeep, I'd guess transfer case. Crawl under there and make sure you didn't smash it against something and crack it.

Nope it's separate. The transmission uses a gear oil and the transfer case uses an automatic transmission fluid. So if you see red fluid, it's most likely the transfer case, which you can probably pick up fairly cheap from a junkyard.
