Hey everyone, I need some help.

I have an 89 Cherokee 4.0L 4x4.
The problem i have is it does not have Reverse. I put it into reverse give it gas and it just revs. but it has no problems with forward.

I have taken the valve body apart to see if there is anything wrong in there, i have checked oil level, unplugged the TCU and still nothing.

Any ideas what the problem might be? help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Sounds like you lost revers and it time for a rebuild.

sorry for the mix up i forgot to put in that i have rebuilt it. i put in all new clutches, seals, and a new band. put it all together and found out it had no reverse. then i checked the valve body for problems. and im just so stumped on what went wrong.
