Default Belt makes niose only with A/C on!

I have a 99 Cherokee Classic with the 4.0L and the belt or something makes a loud squeel when I turn the A/C on and gets louder if I rev the motor? I checked the tension and when I did it seemed to have good tension (90 degrees from original position). But when I went to try tightening it the 15mm bolt that you use to adjust tension with wouldn't really adjust properly. What is making the noise when I turn the A/C on?

The search function will yield several detailed answers you are looking for here. If the issue only occurs with the ac on and the sound is coming from by your belt, you would want to look where the two issues are related. The ac compressor, the clutch is likely the problem. I have no experience with the terms and how exactly the compressor works, so again the search will tell you a lot more than my attempt

If you don't know how old the belt is, replace it. If it is fairly new, tighten to about 1/4" deflection. Your Jeep wants the belt TIGHT. Remember you have to loosen the center bolt of the tensioner pulley before you tighten the adjustment bolt. Once you have it adjusted properly you can crank the center bolt back down.
