I'll be waiting for the next post from the OP that there's something wrong with the transmission. I find it hard to believe that the TCU was just "not plugged in". Since he just bought it, sounds like the former owner had a work around and was manually shifting it because of other issues.

Just a feeling-Maybe I should try to be more optimistic.

Just wondering if the TCU stayed "fixed" by just plugging it in....

Just my own morbid curiosity.

Most likely a reason for it being unplugged. And as a side-note, don't they say its bad for the tranny to shift it "manually"?

Well guys... I will have you know that the actual issue was the TPS. Replaced it with a new one, plugged in the tcu, jeep ran great. Until it caught on fire. Now it don't run so good...

From what I could tell... The starter was held on by one 6inch bolt and like 50 washers... It came loose, and arced out on the something or other amd caught a bunch of **** on fire. So no the tranny didn't have any issues... But now its crispy. So yeah... Sucks to be me... lol

When did this fire happen?! He other day I was under my jeep changing the oil and filter and the filter wrench touched the starter, scared the s**t out of me
