Default aw-4 tranny issue

Just swapped out my burnt aw-4 tranny with a "good" boneyard one. Got everything changed out, filled it with the correct amount of fluid, will not shift into third gear. Does not seem to be slipping at all and the first couple of shifts seem fine, but as you continue to accelerate the rpm's just keep rising and it will not shift.

Would that be the sensors on the tail shaft or something internal. I saw three selenoids ??? or whatever they were where the filter is. Does this take a diagnostic to check it? By the way, it is a 99 with the 4.0.

there inside the pan...you can test these at the TCU (transmission Controll unit) which is under the steering colum.

The tranny I pulled should have good parts. If needed, I could probably swap out the sensors don't you think?

Try to swap the valve body, the speed sensor on the tail extension should be fine cause it is shifting to 2nd gear.
