In the AX15 the manual at one point called for GL-5. Was later reported to be a misprint as the high sulfur content will damage your brass syncros. Any 75w-90 GL-4 should do the trick! A lot of people I know love the Redline MT-90. Factory came with GL3 I believe but it is hard to find.

MT-90 is the best stuff I've ever had in my AX-15, and a lot of other people report similar.

Redline MTL and Royal Purple SynchroMax are also purpose-made fluids that are a little thinner.

An API 75w90 gear oil rated at GL-3, -4, or -5 without the use of high sulphur EP additives will work. Royal Purple 75w90 is a GL-5 that is brass-friendly (I think). The majority of GL-5s are not.

On a budget AC Delco Synchromesh or Pennzoil Synchromesh work well.

Some folks run engine oil based on Chrysler's decision to stop carrying the proper lubricant once the warranty expired in AX-15s. Not sure why they do this.

This is a very common question, next time try searching in Google. You can add "site:cherokeeforum.com" to search just this site.
