I currently have an auto tranny in my '90 XJ and would like to convert to a standard. I love wheelin with a standard tranny!
Was wondering if anyone has done this. The swapping over of clutch master cylinder and lines wouldn't be a big deal. It won't happen anytime soon but just trying to get a feel for what I'd be in for. Thanks!

Transfer case is different on a manual (23 spline instead of the 21 spline found in the auto's).
Urm.... flywheel, clutch, pedal set, mater/slave cylinders, and all the little misc thing that go along with it.
It's not too terribly hard. Best if you have a donor vehicle.

i can't imagine it would be hard, swap tranny flywheel and clutch all out from a manual. There should already be mounting points for a clutch pedal on it. They were all built with the same holes, just some were manual and some were auto. I don't think you will need a another computer, but u might need one from a manual.

I'm not too worried about the mechanical/fab side of it. I've put a 350 in an S10. Wasn't fun! This is my 1st jeep so it's stuff like the spline count that I need to know. Thanks by the way! I'll probably just try and find a donor with a standard but it will definately be post lift. Probably wait till my auto gives out.

Yeah it's EASY if you've shoe-horned a 350 in an s-10. Donor is the way to go.. but if you cant, just make sure you get a 23 spline t-case from a manual. Everything else is pretty straightforward.

What I was plannin on doin was a pullapart gig. Yank the tranny and xcase together and just yank everything else for the 5 speed. Lol! It's just gonna be parts swapping. So u did urs a conversion like this? I was gonna do the SYE kit on mine but I'm just gonna wait and do it when l get the new case.
Found a write-up for the swap for you... I guess you DO need the ECU to pass emissions. Don't have those here in FL.
