Auto to Manual Swap
So I found this add on Craigslist for a complete ax15 tranny and all the components necessary to swap an auto to a manual but it doesn't come with a T-Case. The parts the guy said it comes with are: "Shifter, pedals, master and slave cylinder, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bearing, and transmission." I asked him if he has the wiring harness an he doesn't think he has it. The only problem I see is I have a 1998 Cherokee auto with I'm pretty sure a np231 transfer case (2wd, part time 4wd, 4 hi, N, 4 lo). And this transmission is out of a 1995 Cherokee. So mainly I was wondering if it would work? And if so what other parts would I need? Please lemme know as soon as possible because if it'll work somehow then I don't want to pass it up and or it get sold

Why swap a good AW4 trans for a poorer one to start with? Less tow rating, clutch issues and upkeep not found in the AW4 and IMHO better off/on road manners.
JMHO had both over the years quite a few in fact any more only autos because of improvements made over the years in auto.

See I had always heard that the ax15 was more durable and lasted longer than the aw4, my aw4 has 158,000 miles on it. This ax15 had 130,000 when it was pulled. Mainly I was hoping to get some more miles per gallon because in runnin 33's on stock gears an at 70mph on the highway it's either runnin constant at 3200 rpms or shifting back an fourth between 4th an 3rd gear, it'll shifts back an forth a lot to keep me Rollin at 70mph an I figure that had to be hard on the motor an tranny kickin between gears a lot an cranking back an forth at like 2400 an 3200 rpms constantly trying to keep the jeep at speed

i converted my jeep from auto to manual it was very easy... took me 2 days taking my time..
i had to cut and shorten the transfer case shift rod because obviously the manual trans is shorter then the auto trans..
i converted because i hate automatic and it takes the fun away

I believe you on that and I've tried that I just didn't know how good that was to do on a driveline with 158,000 miles because I'd be runnin at around or above 3,000 rpms constant on the highway

You're not going to be able to use 5th, and maybe sometimes not 4th, on the highway with a manual and big tires without lugging the engine.
Lugging the engine is a whole lot more harmful than 3000 RPMs.
