Came out from under the dash of my 86 parts Cherokee. Has some adjustable settings. Had an electrical connector that plugged into it. Anyone care to guess what it is and what it does?

 

Cruise control?

bahaha. my jeep has that too. i accidentally knocked it out of my jeep while i was driving one day. tore off the wires and everything. but my jeep worked without it... so it musnt be too important

 

Kinda looks like the ignition control module on my cj.

Is it necessary at all? or can i junk it? it always falls out

 

oops my bad. It's the cruise control brain.

 

Technically, its a Dana Cruise Control ECM. That said it was built for AMC so there is probably no Dana markings on it. In general, its a Yellow Box Dana and is interchangeable with any other Yellow box Dana. If you need one I probably have it. If you dont need cruise, leave it out. If you need other info let me know.
Built once apon a time in Laurinburg NC, numerous other colors are available but are not interchangeable. Yellow is yellow. Napa should also be able to get new parts.

Side note, Dana was purchased by Rostra. All sorts of parts are available on fleabay. Plant is still in Laurinburg NC.

As a side note, If your Heep is NOT equipped with Cruise, and you want to put it on, using the semi universal Rostra parts is the easiest way. My Brother in Laws Yota 4x4 got a Rostra Honda cruise installed. Looks factory, runs factory and a damn sight easier on the throttle stabber with a 45 mile run over hill and dale twice a day.
