I've got a 2000 xj 2-door, and i'm looking to replace the stock speakers. I've got a jvc kd-g140 head unit installed (specs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2oQK9fK...C-KD-G140.html), and i've got 2 15" lanzar max subs, with a lanzar vibe 261 2400w amp that are going in as soon as i build 'em a new box (and tint the rear 3 windows). For front door speakers i wanna get components. Right now i'm considering MB Quarts' discus line. i can get the 5.25" component set for 75 bucks on ebay. Anyone use these speakers before? I've heard that 6.5" will fit in the front doors (possibly with a little mod), will the extra size make a noticeable difference with the voltages my head unit puts out? i wasn't planning on putting anything in the rear sound bar, because i was going to use all four channels from the head unit to power the components, and plus the subs will pretty much drown em out, right?

i haven't done a lot of speaker work before, aside from putting subs in my old '95 geo prizm, and installing the head unit in my new jeep. any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

 

I put 6.5s in the front and 6X9" in the tail gate and my Sony handles them just fine
