I removed the cross member and dropped the rear enough to get a 1/4 ratchet with a 9/16 socket on the hard ones. This might mess up your motor mounts so be careful.

A transmission jack makes it a little easier, but you should be able to hoist it up by hand. Replace the transmission output shaft seal while you have the t-case out.

Alright, so first off, jack under transmission... Remove the crossmember, remove wiring harness and all other odds and ends.. get the linkage off.. Unboly tcase from transmission, slide it off.. Replace output shaft seal, and i need another jack to lift up the transfer case back into posistion?

I don't think you need to pull the crossmember off to pul the t-case.

you don't have to remove the crossmember but it does make it easier if you remove it... and the other adivice i give.. while you have everything apart.. check for play in your driveshafts... change the diff fluids... make sure you change the fuild in the new transfer case... so everhing starts new...

Kinda like the guy who said he put rod and main bearings in his 4.0, but now can't figure out how to swap in a longblock with the provided comprehensive instructions?
