Antenna linked to headlights?
I have just disconnected the power antenna on my 98 xj limited. The antenna was not moving up or down so I plan to replace it, however since disconnecting it I have lost the lights on the speedometer console and the low beam head lights! Does anyone have a clue what is going on or what I can do to fix it. By the way I have removed the old antenna and put a universal power antenna in its place, but connected it up yet as the new one has two wires and the old one had three, I don't know which ones to connect!
Any help would be really great
Thanks

^^ I guess that was a silly question. I guess only XJ's built up for export had factory installed power antennas.
Below is a diagram of the system.
I looks like your new two wire antenna won't work with the factory power relay.
To answer your original question, yes, fuse 17 in the PDC feeds the power antenna system and the headlamp switch. It may have blown.
Below is a pic of the PDC showing the fuse location.

Thanks very much for the help, I had checked the fuses under the dash but not in the PDC.
The layout of the fuses was slightly different than in the picture above but after checking found a blown 20a, replaced it and hey presto all is good again.
I'm not sure how I managed to blow it as I was changing the antenna, maybe just a coincidence.
I will ditch the power antenna I think, the replacement universal one I got (which you advice will not work) is really poorly constructed and feeble. That will teach me for buying cheap off Ebay. I will probably go for a short rubber one instead.
Thanks again for the advice!

Looking at that PDC pic, can you identify where the fuse was located that you found blown.

I have a short rubber one from WalMart... It's mounting base was too small, it fell down the hole.
The stock mounting base wouldn't work with the antenna...
I had to use a piece of metal (basically as a washer) to mount it.
It looks stupid.
I'd recommend a stock one.

It would have been nice to know that you had a Diesel up front.
A tiny difference in PDC's. LOL
Edit: It might be a good idea to add your Jeep details to your Signature so others can see what they are dealing with the next time you have a posting/thread.
Add Jeep body style, engine, transmission, transfer case, LH or RH drive, etc.
Go to User CP, to Settings & Options, then Edit Signature.
Piece of cake.
