Quote: You are an idiot. The only reason they probably bothered to give out the mudflaps and flare tickets are because you DIDN'T have a seat belt on and you were SPEEDING. Maybe you should try to do the simple things, as by doing those you are less noticeable. Sorry they were doing their jobs, they probably hate young idiots like you around where you live.
I agree. Quit *****ing at the cops for doing their job and do the responsible adult thing. After mudding my tires throw up so much mud behind me that stuff hits the windshield of cars ... when I don't put the mudflaps back on. It's a safety issue, not yours, but for others. The flares serve a similar purpose.

It's so frustrating to read some similar posts like some here, quick to point the finger at the po-po, but refusing to take responsibility for having simple common sense. Being irresponsible & ignoring the laws in your area shines the light on all of us & makes us all look bad.

I agree the only reason you got a flare/mudflap ticket is cause you were speeding. Imagine being a police officer and seeing the deaths that unsafe driving causes. You can't imagine what those guys see. Thats why they get all bent out of shape when you speed and don't wear a seatbelt. Most of them honestly don't want to see you all beat and broken when the come to the scene of your carwreck. They get all pissed and then they write you up for everything they can.......Slow down, and wear your seatbelt and if you were throwin mud they'd probably stop you and just give you a warning.

At least if you're going to speed, don't go outragous and fly past everyone like a bat out of hell. But 5-10 over the limit isn't that bad except if the limit is low. If it's low, it's that way for a reason and should be respected. And I know here if we're throwing mud we get a warning and if it happens again we pay the fine for penn dot cleaning the roads.

But really, to the OP. I have 3 guys that I grew up with that are now officers. 2 staters and 1 city cop. They have stories that can only be beaten by ER doctors and War time stories.

To many times they have had to come over to share a beer and just take a day to settle back down. Seeing a squishy thing that used to be a person is never fun.

Get the flares, get the flaps, by god slow down and wear a seatbelt.

Yeah yeah I know, but when I'm actually driving I obey it reasonably. And 99% of the time have my seat belt on.

I've seen people go to any hardware/ lawn and garden place and get the plastic edging that goes around plater's, cut and fold the edges at a 90* angle and mount them up. Be happy Lifts and Larger tires are legal in your state. QUIT SPEEDING.... and if you ABSOLUTELY feel the need at least put that seatbelt on.

You did pretty much start the post off blaming all cops (at least that's how it came across.) You should have expected response like this from people. One person of the off-roading community screws up and it affects us all. That's why people get defensive.

Im not really sure what you mean by that, and sorry to get on you but it really irratates me when people blame the po-po for getting pulled over for doing illegal things. Yes, 6 over is kind of bull but its still over

Yea that is BS he was just looking to fell his quota. I have a close Family member that is a Captain in one of our local police force's and he has told me that (at least in our area) street cops have to bring in a certion amount in tickets each month. It is like a unwriten rule. He also said he NEVER pulled people that weredriving normally over for spedding untill 10mph over the limit. It is all about the Cop and what kind of Cop he is.As for the seatbelt I think it is BS also! If I choose not to wear it and take the chance of getting hurt or dying in a accident then it is MY CHOICE, it is not effecting anyone else but me. There is no fine for abortions but give me a $100 fine for not wearing a seatbelt WTF! The other stuff they use to make money to keep their jobs. With out you having to pay those STUPID mudflap/fender flare/whatever tickets they would have to cut jobs.

That's almost as ridiculous as saying "why can't i smoke in a bar?" or "why do i have to wear a helmet?" it's a law for a reason. It doesn't just affect you it affects the people around you in many ways also. Everyone stop complaining about it and just obey the laws, or don't ***** when you get in trouble for not obeying the laws.

Since were on the topic of seatbelts (and I'm not disputing that they save lives)...

What logic does it have that people in cars have to wear seatbelts, but people on motorcycles do not have to have seatbelts or helmets?

Theres nothing more annoying then seeing someone ride by on a motorcycle with their helmet strapped on the back.

First off how does not wearing a helmet or a seatbelt effect anyone's SAFETY but my own? My statement was not ridicules it is how I feel and I can give you just as many accidents were the seatbelt caused some one to die(can't get out so they burned alive, blew up,or smoke inhalation ) as opposed to safe their lives. SO I do dispute the fact that they safe lives! And don't get me started on second hand smoke BS. Your one of those I believe and do whatever the News/Police/ Government says is right type people, Right? Second I'm not *****ing about anything I'm saying it is BS and should be changed. Those Laws are different from state to state area to area(at least the helmet and smoking ones). So what does that mean that in some places it is safer to not wear a helmet or in some places second had smoke is not as damaging. Come on! Get off your high horse and let me decided what is right and wrong FOR ME you guys sound like a damn click it or ticket commercial.
