Default Another shackle lift question

Going to BB my 2000 XJ with 2" spacers in the front and shackles in the rear using factory leafs that are not sagged. Have read on here to not use shackles. What are the pros and cons?

I don't know but I need to know the answer to this as well. My rear springs are sagging like crazy, but thats a different story.

I put shackles on my wife's yj. They worked fine other than I had to shim the rear end. I had the shackles and didn't want to have to buy new springs. When I had my 91 xj, I just had an add a leaf put in. I went with about three inches of arch, 1/2" thick in the center and about 15 or 16" long. It took the sag out of the rear and made it a whole lot better towing and with a little weight in the back. Cost about $70 with tax.

I like my shackles did it as a gap fix before i get new leafs (also save a little money i can get an 3in lift but net closer to 4.5 when i'm done with the adjustable front spacers.

I have a 1" lift shackle in the back of my 91 XJ. All has been good. The the rear wheel travel is good and it flexes as good as it did before with the stock shackles. If there is a con to lift shackles, I haven't experienced it.

Appreciate all the input. Some have said that shackles will mess up the stock leafs. I can't understand how.

I don't know how to tell if my leafs have sagged, i have a 91 with 230k on her so I'm assuming they are... I'm most likely going with a 2" shackle/block lift from Rocky-Road and Pro-comp shocks.
