Update: SOLVED!!!! Well, I figured out the low idle/ hesitation / stalling issue. I was the vacuum line from the MAP Sensor to the throttle body. I replaced my original with one I got from the junkyard and everything changed. Idle's great, power's back, and no stalling.

What I can't figure out is, why. I checked the line, removed and cleaned it, blasted throttle body cleaner through it and it was still messing with the signal to the MAP. The only thing I can find is my original hardline had been fixed sometime in the past with some soft vacuum line.

I think DFlintstone suggested the MAP back at the beginning of this thread but the MAP tested good...

Oh well. Thanks so much to everyone who helped me with this especially DFlintstone and Cruiser54. The jeep is running great now! Cruiser's tips really helped out too, my ambient air temp thermometer in the overhead console started working again after I did the dash ground fix!

Hopefully, this will help someone in the future.

Thanks,
Clint

Awesome to hear, been tracking this one for awhile. The guys here know their stuff though. If I were to buy them the beers they're owed by me alone I'd never retire.

It confused me greatly to hear that it wasn't the MAP at first... can't say I'm surprised that's what it was, but sucks you had to go through all that for a stupid hose =/

That kinda stuff happens, though.

Just be happy it wasn't sitting at a garage this whole time and they charged you $500+ just to find that.

No, that's not an exaggeration, at least around me - just about the same exact thing had just happened to my friend with his bmw e36, which I warned him about taking to a shop. He did, $500+ later, and after they sent it to a SECOND garage, which he is still fighting against paying them a dime (he shouldn't have to) he finally took it back, and within 10 minutes I helped him find the vacuum leak.

I don't think those lines like rubber spliced into them.

And the Crowd Cheers! ..........

Way to stick With it Clint. You pretty much get all the credit for finding that, I didn't know it could cause low idle. Normally over rich, flooding, black smoke are it's hallmarks. Map tube trouble is supper common, I have this canned, but I didn't think to post it! Well done!

"There is a brittle little tube. It comes out of a rubber plug, low on the engine side of the throttle body. It runs back to the firewall, then up to your MAP sensor sort of high up there near center on the firewall. CRUCIAL!! The MAP will tell the ECU to dump fuel with less/no vacuum. Any crack or blockage and it won't run right, if it runs at all! "

There. Better late than never!

I'm thinking LOWER vacuum can happen and not just NO vacuum on that line.
