Default another question

so for the past couple weeks my cherokee has been cutting out while driving, its an 88 4.0 auto, it only cuts out at low rpm and under a load while driveing, then the other day i hit a bump and it stalled, then also when you close the hood hard it stalled, so what i found was the wires for the crank sensor where they run through the fire wall had worn through and the purple one was gounding out and shutting it off, now my question is could that be the root of my problem and did it burn thecps out or mess the ecu up? any help is greatly appreciated thanks keith

i fixed the wires and its still cutting out while driving, not grounding out and stalling any more. i dindnt know if grounding that wire out messed up the ecu or cps to make it skip?

well i had a new cps for it and put it in, didnt change a thing, what would cause this to cut out at low rpms while driveing only, the harder you are on the throttle taking off the worse it does it, and it will do it every now and then while at crusin speed, its like you just are killing the power to the coil for a second and under a hard acceleration it will do it real fast multiple times and if you let off the throlle some it will stop
