what causes the oil pumps to go bad?
i got a picture im gonna show you guys and try and explain to me why this happened?
it dont make sense its where the distributor shaft comes in and turns the oil pump..
on the oil pump shaft it tore off the 2 ears and causes this oil pump to stop working...

this is on my spare motor i got in the jeep when i bought it i had put the extra one that came with it in and its been running ok..

on this motor i plan to build a stroker tho so id like to know what im up against like why this happened before i start this...

the guy had told me that he knew it was gonna go bad the distributor kept getting tight he replaced the distributor 2 times before and was driving this time the oil pressure went to 0 he tried to make it over somewhere safe and it just shut off...
mind you i can spin the motor over by hand so i think it would have been alright but either way like i said im building a stroker out of this...
