Default another no heat thread

i have a 99 cherokee

just had a new tstat installed and new upper hose (to the radiator)

I had the system flushed out and the heat does not get hot.

ON my old 91, it would be so hot in the jeep you could cook a meal....but my 99 will get warm...but not hot...and it takes forever

jeep warms up to just shy of 210 and doesnt move past that

so quick recap:
new t stat
new upper radiator hose
coolant flush done about a month ago
coolant is green in color and full in both radiator and over flow bottle?

suggestions to look into?

im going to flush the heater core with a hose and see if that helps....but anything else i should look into?

Which tstat did you install? Pretty much everything other than an OEM 195 is a recipe for problems.

Hows the temp gauge on your dash? Any codes like running rich? Does the motor itself seem to get hot? How old is the water pump? Check hoses to and from heater core, both cold = no heat at all, both hot = normal, one cold, one hot = clog

t stat is a napa stat...never had any issues before
temp gauge is just under 210 on the dash
no codes, new 02 sensor so it runs great
water pump age is unknown
both hoses are in between warm and hot...while the vehicle is running you can grab both and not get burned...but they are warm

^This. My guess is the heater core wasn't flushed and all the crap flushed out of the rest of the cooling system ended up in the core.

update:

Flushed with a hose....had "chunks" of rusty something come out

water was brown ...with all little rust particles in it. The guy who showed me how to do it (its really easy) said to drive it for the weekend, flush it again next week...drive a few days, flush again

have not had a chance to drive it up to temp yet so i dont know what the results will be, but im assuming chunks of crap is not good in the heater core

well see

The bad thing about taking a vehicle in to have a coolant flush a lot of places don't flush the heater core unless you request it to be flushed.

Sorry to piggy back this thread but my xj has just had a thorough overhaul of its cooling system. I replaced everything. My issues are that before I did the overhaul it ran very hot (no idea on temp as I have dummy lights in dash). Now after the overhaul it still runs very hot.

If this guy is doing a coolant flush thru the heating core should I have done the same? how easy is it to do?

no dont do a flush through the heater core. i have the same issue with mine the only thing that i did prior to winter coming (hoping for an snowy and cold winter is put the stock thermostat temp in and in the summer a 185 temp thermostat. or what another guy i saw did was install a on off valve. he got the idea from this link. ill connect the link.
