Default another issue.......(sigh)...

Oh man..the problems (personal and jeep) never stop....

This just started up today. When turning to the left and braking, the jeep makes a grinding noise. I can feel it on the floor. It doesn't do it when i turn right or brake in reverse, only left turn braking.

any idea? it's dark out and i cannot check right now.

Once you get a visual of your undercarriage update this thread. Could be a number of things.

Maybe it could be a problem with one of the brake pads or calipers coming out of place?? I really don't know, and it will be impossible to diagnose in the dark!! I'm sure you have thought of this already and I'm not trying to frustrate you any more than you already must be, so best of luck and please post what you find in the light tomorrow!! Hope you track down the problem easily!! Peace out!!

Two things jump out as possibilities. First as COS mentioned would be brake pads unevenly worn and the second would be unit bearings on that side. You will need some better lighting than a flashlight so in the morning would be best. Let us know if either one turns out to be the culprit!

Well the ride has been noticeably rough lately. Bumps aren't smooth and are slowly becoming more like a "bang" sort of feeling. Slow, it does fine, fast it handles like crap. Could be bearings. I took it to mom's garage and visually checked underneath. Nothing hanging out of place but i haven't checked the bearings or took off a tire yet so i gotta wait and see what's hiding behind the wheels.

I still don't see how it would only do this on left turns while braking and no other time.

Left caliper is working harder during a left turn and so is the unit bearing. Thats what led me to think in those terms, "what is different in a left turn than in a right turn" thus the two things that I suggested.
