can anyone tell me where my thermostat is hiding?

if its a 4.0L its right up front, its on the top coolant hose going into the engine IIRC. just changed mine out

If you open the hood and look look just below the valve cover you will see 2 hoses coming out...1 is the heater hose and 1 is the upper radiator hose..That hosing is what holds/covers the thermostat..has 2 bolts to remove and you can replace the thermostat and gasket..Pretty easy to do I believe the bolts are torqued to 15 ft lbs...Well that's what it was for my 91 anyways and I assume the newer models are basically the same..

Also make sure you have a tub or bucket to catch the radiator fluid that will come out...

okc is right about that. The coolant is bad for the enviroment and deadly to animals who like its sweet taste. So gather it up and either reuse it or dispose of it properly. Most parts houses will take it just like they will used oil.

Yeah antifreeze cleanup is a major pain...Best way to clean a spill that I have found on the cheap side is charcoal ash..soaks it up good, then sweep up and dispose of it properly..but a nice catch bucket is by far the appropriate method..
