Another A/C Question...
Sorry to add another Air Conditioning question to the mix, I searched the other threads and didn't really gain knowledge on my situation.
1) Re-charged the A/C unit... It worked fine, for a few days.. this was at the beginning of June. Then one day I sat still with it on. The temperature gauge shot up to 260, it was sitting in direct sun on a 90 degree + plus. I didn't touch it again.
2) I turned it on today a month later, The air isn't cold and it isn't exactly hot like heated air. it's kinda like a 70 degree blast.
I honestly don't know if I put the recharge kit into the right spot, I failed like this on my grand am and then took the can back and said it mal functioned and got another one and put it in the right spot. I did the charge at night, I didn't notice if there was an L on the cap. Could I have put it in the wrong spot and it didn't store?

Sounds like u have 2 separate issues.....engine overheat and poor a/c performance. I'd suggest addressing the overheat issue 1st. Most folks can do the cooling system maintenance themselves as the XJ is pretty simple to work on. A/C is a little more complex and as mentioned, best left to a pro.

todays ac fitting are two different sizes you really cant screw that part up, as for the temp sounds like the fans are not working

It's weird because it never has hit 260 with the ac off, even if I turn it on and it doesn't throw any cold air... it still doesn't hit above 210.

If it's not makin' cold air inside, it's not makin' hot air outside (the condenser in front of the rad) The motor runs cooler when a/c is off/not working. A functioning a/c will place a big load (heat wise) on the motors cooling system, especially in 90+ degree weather. Ambient temp is a big factor especially if some components in the system are weak/failing. All components (not some) in the entire cooling system as well as all components in the a/c system must be in top notch condition for either to do their job well.

is the cooling fan working have you checked it if its not ac will never blow cold unless your moving at idle extra load and heat from condensor will make it run warmer

fwiw, I checked the fan today... not working. Checking the fuse next, I had to add washer solevant before work today and noticed the fan in front of the radiator wasn't operating.
