so after months of inner turmoil about whether or not to slap the money down for a brand new kit or put one together myself, I have decided to go the budget route. Ive read several threads about it, but none of them give me any idea as to how many leafs to add to the main xj spring. I think i want about 3 inches of lift.

there is alift kit that takes dodge dakota rear springs and for f150 coils and gives you 4 inchs i cant find it its on google

yeah i have seen that one. maybe i just missed it but im pretty sure it doesn't tell you how many leafs to add to the main xj leaf, which is what i want to know.

I have the budget boost and i'm more than happy... about 3.5"
(50, 40, 40, 16, 15, 20, 12 = expect to spend about 200 when the smoke all clears... If you do it the right way, unless you get stuff "donated" to you)

and i would be prepared to do a t-case drop, but lift it then drive it, if it vibes then put it in...

mine vibed, but come to find out i have a bad wheel bearing hub assembly, which explains the vibes... but im too lazy to take it out now, never hurts to have good pinion angle, and motor mounts are fine.

thanks man. as for the front coils, I know you can use springs from a f150 or zj or buy the longer springs, but has anyone thought of using the coils from a jeep tj? they seem to be longer than the xj ones and might be closer in spring weight than the other two?

(edit) nevermind, did a quick google and it looks like the tj springs might lower the ride height.

yeah i did a dong load of research and came up with my "budget boost" with good flex for wheeling and stiffer shocks for daily driving. You can use TJ lift coils, just subtract 1 inch from the lift... so shoot for 4 inch tj lift coils and your golden.

Depends on what your looking to do. If there is any one kit I would go Old Man Emu, otherwise I would get new heavy duty quadratec leafs and Iron rock off road shackles, and new front coils would have to be old man emu...

the problem with what you have suggested darkoverlift is it is way to expensive.

get some 3.5" XJ lift coils ~ $150
get JK shocks ~ $60 for all 4 (good from 2"-4" lifts, higher with BPE's)
get either XJ, Dodge Dakota, Chevy Blazer/S10 leaf packs ~ $50
get some WJ/ZJ lower control arms ~ $30
hardware/homemade transfer case drop and bump stop extenders ~ $30-50

Relocate brake lines, so you don't have to get longer ones.

Make your own Extended Sway Bar Links/Quick Discos and Bar Pin Eliminators

a little over 250 for a perfect 3.5" lift kit, no compromises

with the possibility to go higher with shackles and coil spacers... will max out shocks at full articulation.

if you go higher than 2" you need a new alignment, longer shocks, adjustable track bar, slip yolk eliminator ($200+)/ or transfer case drop kit($25)/ or hack n tap($200+). Thats not an opinion or advice, theyre required. Unless its your street car you drive 10 or less miles per day...

either way, i'm selling 2" and 3" BB kits between $100-$130 shipped. The 2" is safe, but the 3" youll need longer shocks etc. that i do not sell.

i know i want to go at least 3 inches, and from everything i've read the SYE is really only needed if you go 4+ inches. I know I have to get longer shocks too. there are also a few ways of getting around buying a new track bar right away.

I know rustys is selling new front coils for $99 plus shipping. good or bad?

get this bracket relocates the track bar you will also need to adjust the toe on fron by adjusting the sleeves out on sterering arm very simple
