Annoying whistle problem

Specs show 23ft lbs, so I cranked her to that and took it for a drive. No whistle. WHOOHOO! But I'm skeptical it was that easy to fix, I'll keep you all posted. Avallanche thanks for posting again, didn't mean to steal your thread... if you do get around to that picture I'd still like to see it. Maybe the next person who comes looking for an answer to this problem will be thanking us.
I have been trying to solve the whistle problem for about six months now. I read this thread and post by youthpastortodd and saved it to my favorites. The other day i showed to my neighbor and we adjusted the bolts. Sure enough, the one closest to the firewall was loose as a goose. It's been a week now with no whistle. Thank God for His provision through this website!!!!

I am sorry to wake up an old thread like this but I was having the same issue and I will try this in the morning but I was wondering if after fixing this did you notice any change in performance... such as did it idle better, did a check engine light go off... etc. Thanks for the info BTW.

ALRIGHT GUYS!! I have figured it out. I have been having the same problem for a long time. My mechanic finally figured it out. You need to replace you "idler pulley" it is about 36 bucks and about 40 for labor. I havent had it whistle yet.
