Uh, well, I took out the airbox silencer/restrictor/whatever it's called yesterday. I took it out in hopes that it would go along well with my new exhaust and bored throttle body I bought from thexjfiles here on the forum. Now, I know the TB's he sells have the whistle, and that's what I thought I was hearing, but a friend just tried telling me otherwise. He told me that taking that out and the whistle Im hearing with screw things up and blow o-rings because the diaphram can't handle the pressure that the restrictor was holding back?? I'm confused. Wtf is this diaphram? I've looked at and studied every part of my engine.. I have NEVER heard of a 4.0 diaphram. Should I put the restrictor back in?

you dont need the restrictor lol most people ditch the stock air filter box anyone and put a after market cold air intake which has pretty much no restrctions compaired to stock. but this whistle your talking about is that when you rev the motor??

Yeah, it whistles while accelerating quickly.

i would say thats probably normal i my self have never had experance with a bored throttle body but i do know when you add a after market air filter that adds more air flow they whistle to so that could be it. as far as all that air flow your budy is talking about thats none since cause you could throw a turbo on that thing and have 100times more air flow and be fine

Thanks man. I appreciate the reassurance. I do know that most bored TB's will whistle due to turbulance if they aren't machined to fight it. Plus, I figure the removal of the silencer has some noise increase as well. And it only whistles at a certain RPM range under a certain load. At idle and under easy acceleration, I hear barely anything.
