That I'm not sure of, I think its a 3" or 3.5" lift by Rough Country (judging by the stickers). I would have to get a shock from the company, I cant just use a shock thats similar?

You can use any shock that is setup for a XJ... that has the same travel specs as the RC ones... or at least proper travel specs for the lift amount..

So in theory I can drive it without that shock, it just wouldnt be as smooth of a ride....correct? Sorry if thats a dumb question.

almost.... what a shock or dampener does is control the suspension movement thru valving.

ever see that guy traveling down the road who hits a bump and his car just keeps going up and down up and down up and down... Yeah that is what a shock prevents.

since the spring will want to compress and decompress as a normal cycle the shock has valving that slows that motion down and controls it to bring the spring back to "normal"

so without it you are going to have a very smooth, very rollercoaster ride!

and a good way to check shocks is called a "bump test" give a good hard push on each corner of the jeep and it should go right back up to normal and not move after you push down on it.

but since there is no shock it will "jiggle" back into position.
