Question Am I missing a shock?

So after going through builds and watching people put lift kits on their XJ's, I'm wondering if I'm missing a shock.....arent there supposed to be 2 in the rear that connect to the rear axle? Forgive me if thats a dumb question. My ride is a '97 Sport

There should be a total of four on the XJ. One in each corner.

Search for broken shock bolt and you will find more then enough info on how to fix it.

On a side note, atleast you have the ChryCo 8.25 axle!

The ChryCo 8.25 is what rear axle you have. Its a Chrysler Corp axle and is a choice axle in comparison to the weaker Dana 35 rear axle that is used in similar year XJ's with abs brakes.

please let me know what I should do to fix these random problems, I'm kinda out of the loop when it comes to lifted vechicles. I can imagine that since its an aftermarket lift kid, I'd probably have to call the manufacture to find a single shock for the system

how much lift? you can use a rear brake line off a 96 dakota to replace that one in the back its like 4 inches longer so you wont have to leave it unhooked from the axle like it is now. just my 2 cents
