After a few trips to the mounds[local ORV area].My alternator was sounding like a grinder.I replaced it today and fabbed a stailnless splash shield.Its half finished.I will be fabbing the front cover for it soon.I realize this does nothing if submerged.Just wanna blast through puddles if I feel like it and not worry.What do you guys think??Good idea or bad?Over heating the alternator has crossed my mind.Not sure though

 

Awesome idea. Keeping all that crap out of the alt is awesome, and it looks very clean. Now to fab up an entire casing for those sub-marine trips lol. But yes, very nice idea and very nice shield

 

Did something simular a few years back after the second alternator went out. You'll thank yourself after a few trips and it's still quiet as new.

 

The stailnless I have already has the small 90 degree in it.For the front I am going to cut and bend a smaller piece.I will flip the flange so the bolts are accessible from the bottom.Ill post more pics soon.Glad you like it.Yea when the wife said she could hear when I turned down the street.I thought w/ the new alt,I should try something!!

 

Heres the finished product.I may redesign the front sheild.Gonna test it out on the trails this weekend!

 

If it works (which it should) you should make a template with the general outline, drill holes, bends, etc. And share it with us :-)

 

I will do that.I have to make another for a buddy of mine.Gonna try to do that in the next week or so.I will do a template and post the measurements after that.

I like it. More pictures would be nice. I have the factory skid and it seems to keep the alt dry through the puddles but this would be nice for when it comes time to ditch the skid.
