All T6 Users, I have a question.
So recently i did the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket on my 4.0L. I'm currently run 15w-40 T4. And i'm thinking of running 5w-40 T6 for my next oil change. What is the mileage intervals you guys change your oil? Cause 6 quarts of oil is expensive for T6.

This thread could get interesting. lol
It can vary depending on a number of things including how the vehicle is used and the condition of the engine.
Majority of the time I do 8k miles between changes with T6.

Interesting, a oil thread.
I've thought about using t6 in my xj, after all your going to get some great temperature range.
And there is a picture of a SUV on the jug
I use t5 in my '08 6.7 ctd, 5k change interval with that oil.
T6 is full synthetic, reply's will differ for change intervals
In a diesel sulfur build up is a concern.
A gas burner, not so much. I would push the interval in my xj to at least 7500 mi. Some people don't change full synthetic they just change the filter and top off.
Lots of range there though w/ t6, if you live in a cold climate it's probably a good idea.

Hey at least I'll promise to stick to the subject. lol
There was a member here at least 2-3yrs ago who would send oil samples to Blackstone at certain intervals. He wasn't going to change oil (and maybe filter?) until the analysis went south. If I remember correctly ( yea right) he was approaching 12K and all was good. Lost track of the thread.

Well i live in a very hot climate (South Florida), And i do not beat on my xj at all. I baby it as much as i can. Most of my miles are highway miles. Right now i go 3500 mi between oil changes. My xj has 178000 on it at the moment with no drive train issues. I was just comparing the prices and it may be cheaper to actually do T6 over T4 that i am using now.

Running conventional oil in my vehicles I would change it at 5K miles. You can lengthen the change intervals with synthetic so it would seem that should be figured in with the cost comparison.

Your oil change intervals should honestly be directly coorelated to the type of driving you do during a normal week . If your vehicle doesn’t see much highway and doesn’t get ran long enough to burn the condensation that settles in the oil then it should be changed at a typical standard interval such as 5k . If you drive 130 miles a day like I do and run premium filters and oil like this you could easily go 7500-10,000 each oil change with no problem . I change my wife’s vehicle every 5k and mine every 9-10k because of our driving habits .
