I have read, operative word being read, that many times it is a clockspring issue. Do you have cruise? Does it work if so? Does horn work?

Hello, the horn and cruise work ok. I also try to check the close circuit with a multimeter, and also close.

Cause I want to say that those symptoms might be present in what I have read if it is the clockspring causing this.

I had an air bag light on. replaced the clock spring, and now the airbag light is on and off. I to am curious as to why 98zj would have the light on?

My 2000 WJ had an intermittent airbag light so I had my buddy use his DRB scan tool on it and found the squib firing circuit for the airbag had lost continuity. I took it to the dealer because he didn't want to work on it. They told me I needed the clockspring replaced because without that circuit the airbag either wouldn't deploy in an accident or IT COULD GO OFF AT ANYTIME WITHOUT NOTICE! It cost me $600 to get it replaced.

Since that time I've seen that it's no big deal to replace one yourself.

I personally think it was Service Manager scare tactics. I do know this. My brother decided to run a Chevy Impala in a demolition derby and the airbag had to be removed. He cut the bag out leaving everything else. Do you see where this is going? It went off with a bright flash and burnt his face! D'oh! We can't all be bright!
