I'm trying to replace the Airbags on my 2000 Cherokee. I have the pax side out...trying to get the Driver side off... I'm not sure how to get the yellow plug off. I don't want to break it...anybody ever take one of these off? Also where do you look to see if the clock spring is damaged? don't really want to replace the whole steering cloumn if I don't have to. Is the Control Module the sensor too? .....thanks, SDI_XJ

 

Got the same type of plug on my girlfriends neon, I just pulled it off, it was only held in by a wire retainer that snaps back into place when you put it back in.

 

I replaced mine the plug just pulls off, there are 2 little pins underneath. The module and sensor are integral to the drivers airbag, replace that and your get to go

there is also a module under the centre console
with capacitors inside so the airbags can go off even after the battery is disconnected anywhere from 3 to 30 minutes
BE CAREFUL
also i hope you know you can destroy your clockspring by turning it too many times one way or the other......
if you do remove it turn it all the way one way
thenall the way the other way count the turns then take the amount of turns divide by two and turn it back with that number of turns and you then have your clockspring centred
