For my intake, I just took the chrome tube from another vehicle (not sure what it came off of), mocked it up, cut it where I needed it, and put it on using the rubber adapters is came with. It works. Can't say I gained 100 + HP, but it sounds really cool when you floor it.

Yea, no problem. As long as you don't mind some minor fabricating, I'm sure you could get it to work. If you can't, you can always just resell it. Also, don't forget to fabricate a heat shield so it actually sucks in cold air. I still haven't found time to make one for mine, but I'll get around to it. Good luck with your XJ and Happy New Year.

with the way the throttle bodies are they are hard to adapt some thing. i just used the factory rubber air tube, put a 3" piece of exhaust tubing in it put a spectre filter on that and made a little mount to support it

If you use metal tubing in the intake air stream, won't the metal act like a large heat sink, absorbing engine compartment heat, and transfer that heat to the intake air stream, thus reducing engine hp?

I used the plastic tubing from Spectre that is painted to look like chrome. For cheaper than the price of that kit you can piece together one by using a 90° elbow on 45° bend and one straight tube the make a 3” system like I did. Plus being that it is plastic it cuts down on the heat going in too. I can post pics if anyone wants.

Sounds very logical to me, but I think fabricating a heat shield for it would help, even though I haven't yet. Also, I've seen a whole bunch of people that wrapped the intake tube in heat reflective material to keep the air cool. I'm not too concerned about it, I pretty much just put it on because it was free in my case and sounds cool when you floor it

So today I tweaked my design a little bit. The stock airtube will except a 3" tube (which is what I was already using) I didn't like the 90 degree elbow that I had on the Intake so I took that out and did this:

I got the tubing from Autozone pretty cheap. It's a 6" staight tube going into a 45 degree bend going into the air stock tube. It works pretty well and the whole intake with filter cost me about $30.

I also added a little breather filter because I didn't want to drill into the intake to connect the other hose so I did this:

Hope this helps you guys out
