Hi-
I believe my A/C compressor on my '99 XJ 2.5TD has seized (or near enough). The symptoms are severe grinding noise when engine is running, rubber burning smell, and lately sparks and metal shards around the compressor and more worryingly the P/S fluid spewing from the reservoir....
I believe the P/S pump is part of the assembly? -A/C driven off P/S pump shaft?
Is there a way to disconnect the A/C (I'm not worried about having it)? Either removing the shaft which could be causing the P/S pump to slow down or remove the whole compressor?
Any hints hugely appreciated!
Cheers, Matt.

If you search the forum, I think I've read threads that talk about other age and model Jeeps that you could use the bypass pulley from, but the bracket might need to be modified.
As for the PS spewing, uhhhhhh.......
Broken cap? Cracked reservoir? Broken hose?
Whatever it is, I don't think it's got anything to do with the AC unless a chunk flew off and smashed something.
