Default Aftermarket Steering Wheel

Does ANYONE out there know if there is a way to replace my stock (airbag) steering wheel with an aftermarket wheel? I want to get rid of the airbag altogether, but not sure if there's an install kit that would work on an '01 Cherokee Sport. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I thought that it was illegal to remove factory airbags?
Grant steering wheels seem to be popular though.

I found something awhile back you just got to back a screw out to disarm the airbag and then you need a puller to get it off. I got to look for it. as far as being illeagal i don't think it is but i don't know local laws vary.

Disconnect battery, unscrew horn/air bag, pull out, unplug the connectors. With a Grant wheel you need a kit. You will need to find/ask for a kit for 95 cherokee (or previous as most didnt have airbags). You will also need a steering wheel puller most likely (or you can make one). You will have to trim your clockspring if you still want it to work/use your horn (unless you find which wire the horn goes to the plug that goes into the clockspring) My friend Nick and I installed a grant in his 98 and installed an air horn to use VS the stock one. When you install the new wheel, check your spacing, without the clock spring you will hit your hands on the turn signal switch unless you install a spacer. The directions in the kits are straight forward.

I don't know if it's illegal. But I never liked the idea of something blowing up in my face.

perhaps you could just go to the junkyard and pull the wheel or entire column off an older non-airbag equipped cherokee? I love the wheel on my 93 country its the perfect combination of diameter and spokes.
