AFter days of searching, another overheating question
My Jeep is creeping to near the 3/4 mark when I idle for more than a couple of minutes. While driving I'm around 190-200
-The efan doesn't come on from high temp
-It does come on with the AC
-It does come on when I unplug the sensor.
-Both sensors are brand new
-New fan clutch on mech fan
-New radiator
-Replaced relay with a known to be good relay
-fuse not blown
-I'm not interested in adding a toggle switch, This is a dd and other people sometimes drive it.
I plan to replace the thermostat in hopes of solving the creeping up in temp, but still can't figure out why the efan isn't coming on. What do you guys think? This is a 96 with I6.
Thanks,TF

Where did you get the sensor from? Sounds like it may be faulty right out of the box if you ask me (yes, it happens and has happened to me).
Water pump and thermostat would be good starts.

I bought the sensor from Advanced Auto. The brand I believe is BDW or something like that. The fan didn't come on with the old sensor or the new one. I'll return the new one and get them to swap it for me tomorrow. I saw on another thread someone mentioned a switch or module behind the fender? Is there such an animal on the 96? Anyway, thanks for the ideas so far.

With the ac on the temp does climb when I idle for a bit. It only goes a little over midway. It goes to maybe 215 or so. I guess thats not too bad since its been close to 100 here in NC. I know I could just use the ac when its hot and it wouldn't be an issue, but I just like things to work as they should.
Thanks, TF

Sounds like u r half way home.....replace the stat and water pump. 215 in 100 ambient ain't bad. Efan should be on at 218 coolant temp....don't trust the factory gauge....verify temp with a infrared temp gun pointed at that the stat cover.
