Ok, so the NSS is acting up again and I plan to cleaning it up and whatnot but since Autozone has one for 250 buck...I went online to see how much cheaper I could get one and saw this:
http://www.1aauto.com/1997-01-jeep-c...FU4F7AodNEkAAg
And this one: http://www.am-autoparts.com/Jeep/Che...FUVo7AodPAUAYQ
That is just WAY cheaper than I thought they would be...am I missing something? Is this not for your usual 4-speed AW4? Seems too good to be true. If it is the right one, I'm skeptical that maybe it will just be cheaply made and break so I'm thinking about getting one to have just in case but wanted to see if there was anybody on here that could take a look at it and make sure this would be the right fit and that I'm not missing something.
It would be for my 98 XJ with the ole 4 speed AW4.

And I was thinking you could ask Tony why they are so cheap since he works for 1AAuto. Maybe they have alot? maybe its some cheapo one? But I don't think your missing anything if you have a 98 with the AW4 then the one form 1AAuto is the one I would get.

okay, this is totally stupid to say but i will say it anyway. not sure what type of issues you are having with your NSS, but i was having issues with mine too. it is the original NSS and it would just leave me stranded at times so i would have to shift into neutral and back into park to get it to go. or wait a little bit.
anyway, i was doing some rust cleaning work on the floor nearby the switch and just got a lot of WD40 on it. and ever since, it has worked fine. don't know if it was the WD40 that displaced moisture or cleaned something else or created better contact, i don't really know. but the change was noticeable enough that i don't worry about it anymore.

Replace your NSS with the discount item you found. I spent about that much on one off of eBay 3 years ago and it fit perfectly and
Performs just as it should. Now let's hear from the ppl who have brand bias who will insist that you go straight to the dealer and pay 5 times that amount.

Have you thought about opening it up, cleaning it out, lightly sanding the contacts, liberally applying dielectric grease and reinstalling? Cost me about $7 and has lasted 4 years now still going strong. Time spent about 1.5 hrs.

Yea cleaning it is going to be the first try. But in case something goes wrong or it ever fails down the road (has only been on 4 years since being replaced and is giving trouble) having a brand new backup that was cheap was my idea for this one.

Some NSS links below. Some are really tough to get off the shaft without ruining them. I guess the trick is to wedge it out then rap in on the shaft. I haven't done it, but mine is well oiled I bet. You might want to squirt yours with PB or something days ahead of time.

We buy piles of those switches from the source. We do not have a middle man so we pass the savings onto our customers. Those also have a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects.
I've replaced piles of stuff on my 97 ZJ with parts that we sell. It's all good stuff.

I just received an NSS for my '96 from the above source. Arrived quickly and looks just like the existing part. I will swap it out and clean the old one if it can be removed intact to keep for a spare. Hopefully will never need it.
