Advice on bedlining floorboards
Hello everybody. I have some questionshocks about bedlining. During winter, I discovered I had a water leak. I fixed it but just for peace of mind I would like to bed linen just the front floorboards and put the carpet back on top. My questions are should I sand the paint or just bedline over it? Also should I remove the sound deadener? Finally, I can pull the carpet back enough to do this but should I just remove the carpet again? Thanks guys.

Doesn't much matter as long as you get any rust out of there first.
Scuffing the surface would help the bedliner stick if the surface is shiny.
The sound deadener is OK to put back as long as it's dry. (Mine was soaking wet!)
I found it easier to pull the carpets, but I was replacing floorpans too. If you've never removed the carpet it might be worthwhile so you can inspect the rest of the floor.

I have a passenger side water leak too in my '00. Almost positive it is the top of the windshield dripping down. Getting that addressed soon. Thinking of doing what you are doing but I am thinking POR 15. I am always cleaning up here and there under my Jeep. I use the starter kits because they are good for the little projects. I would buy bigger cans of POR 15 but I have read it does not really store well. Am very happy with the results. Prep is the important part for the POR 15 to be as effective as possible. Funny thing is when I finish the little projects I have done I still have some of the 4 oz can in the starter kit left over. So I just slap it on wherever. Figure may not help but won't hurt. Funny thing is that it has held up pretty good in some places even without proper prep.

Just an FYI, you're probably going to want to air out the Jeep for a while after you apply the bedliner and let it dry. I still had the paint smell inside my Jeep a couple of weeks after I bedlined the floor

I did actually. I had very minor rust spots. Like the size of a penny and was surface rust. This was due to a leaking issue. While I was repairing the leak I decided to bed line just as a preventative measure. Good friend of mine paints as a side job and helped me out. I used rustoleum roll on bedliner. Ithink it was rustoluem. Primered as well. My carpet is on top because like I said I only bedined as a last line of defence if I missed any leaking areas.

Alright, thanks for sharing that with me.
My drivers side floor pan gets wet when it rains and I have to figure out the source first but would like to cover it permanently.
Mine spends more time sitting so when something like that happens in the future, it may be getting wet for a month without me knowing.
